Kids Come First Linguistic Protocol
The Kids Come First Health Team is committed to French-language health services. As a result, the Linguistic Protocol was developed to better meet the needs of francophone children, youth, and their families in the eastern Ontario region. The Linguistic Protocol is a Kids Come First partnership project between the Kids Come First Francophone Committee and the Réseau des services de santé en français de l'Est de l'Ontario, a leader in French-language health services planning.
Benefits of the Linguistic Protocol include:
- Increased awareness of Active Offer as a concept among Kids Come First partners;
- Increased identification, training, and retention of employees with French language skills;
- Increased identification of clients whose most comfortable official language is French;
- Enhanced referrals of francophones to a provider who can offer health services in French;
- Increase in the francophone population served in French;
- Improved client satisfaction because of the French-language services received;
- Additional assistance for providers/agencies working on the designation of their health services in French under the French Language Services Act; and
- A common Linguistic Protocol adopted and implemented by all Kids Come First partners.
